Review: Soffia Opulence Perfect Skin Foundation Brush

Flat top brushes are my favorite type of makeup brush. My friends know this! Every time they ask me for brush recos, flat top brushes are always at the top of my suggestion list. Ever since I got to try one way back, I have been using flat top brushes to apply my foundation or BB cream.

I don't go travelling often, but when I do, the Soffia angled flat top foundation brush is one of the few brushes I bring with me.

Soffia is a luxe brush brand from the maker of the famous Charm brushes, Ms. Sophie Uy. And when I say luxe, I don't just mean the elegant-looking gold and black ferrule-handle theme. According to Ms. Sophie, Soffia brushes are made of high quality (and quite rare) synthetic hair inspired by the Japanese squirrel and put together through Japanese techniques. I know there's at least one animal hair brush in this line too, and even that is said to be made of top grade goat hair. I currently have only one brush from this brand, but based on the reviews I've read on their other brushes and my own experience with the one I've tried, Soffia brushes function as well as they look.

Description (from the brand): The Soffia Opulence Perfect Skin Foundation Brush can create a flawless complexion in more ways than one – use this to apply liquid foundation or BB Cream and obtain doll-like, immaculately poreless and flawless complexion. Use this for powder foundation and obtain full, unnoticeable coverage. Use this to contour your features. This brush does it all.

Like I've said earlier, this is the foundation brush I carry in my travel/overnight makeup bag. I only bring five brushes when I travel - a foundation brush, a powder brush, a blush brush, an eyeshadow blending brush and a brow spoolie.

The size is just right. It fits nicely in my small brush pouch along with my four other travel brushes. The handle is shorter than that of my other brushes, but I don't find it uncomfortable to hold and use at all.

The bristles are packed densely enough and are so soft, there have been no scratchy moments. It buffs product effortlessly on the skin and gives a smooth, streak-free finish.

Yay:
  • Really soft bristles that are not scratchy at all
  • Applies liquid foundation/BB cream smoothly and effortlessly
  • Angled flat top helps in buffing product even on smaller areas of the face like under the eyes
  • Doesn't leave streaks
  • Feels sturdy and high quality, I don't remember experiencing shedding with this so far
  • Travel-friendly size
  • Elegant gold-black look
  • Available at beautyandminerals.com

Aww:
  • Pricey for a makeup brush at 750 Php. But then again, Soffia is a high quality brand, and this brush looks and plays the part. (complete price list *here*)

I've only tried using this on liquid foundations and BB creams so far, and I have no complaints whatsoever on how it functions because it does so beautifully!
