Review: Asian Secrets Lulur Whitening Facial Scrub

Heeeeey guys! Haha. I sound so excited, no? I'm always excited for weekends to come. Time to relax and de-stress! I am even more excited now because May is my birth month. And even though my birthday is still not for another week, I'm already gonna start planning for and celebrating it this weekend.

Friday nights are happy nights because I get to spend more time with my skin. That sounds mababaw, but it really does help cheer me up after a long week. As much as I want to pamper my skin every night, I just can't. Sometimes I'm even too tired from work that I fall asleep without changing my clothes and removing my makeup! Baaaad, I know. Weird how I always feel so energetic on Friday nights, though. Maybe it's the idea of not having to wake up early the next day? Yes, yes, I think that's it.

Anyway, one of the most important steps in my skin care routine that I make sure I do at least twice a week is exfoliating my face. Don't you just love the feeling of having smooth and soft skin after a long, stressful week? I know I do. When it comes to facial scrubs, though, I'm quite picky. I actually prefer scrubs over exfoliating gels. I already have a few favorites, but it doesn't hurt to try more, does it?

The facial scrub I'm currently using is from the makers of one of my fave body scrubs - Asian Secrets.

Yesss, Asian Secrets now has a facial scrub to go with their awesome body scrub!

Description (from Asian Secrets): Compared to the Asian Secrets Lulur Whitening Body Scrub, this one has a milder and more delicate formulation suitable for use on the face but still equally effective in whitening and smoothening the skin. Contains bengkoang, a traditional Indonesian whitening and brightening ingredient, and Lulur beads that gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells for smoother and more radiant skin.

The Asian Secrets facial scrub is packaged in a simple squeeze-type tube that comes in two sizes - 50 and 100 g.

The product itself has a light and creamy consistency.

Though there are actual beads in it, this scrub is still quite gentle on the skin. It leaves my face feeling fresh, smoft and smooth. No dry or tight feeling. It's not the most powerful scrub I've tried, but it is a good one. It's gentle enough for use every other day, which is good because I get to have smooth skin all throughout the week, but it's not too mild for my liking. (Yes, my skin is thick like that. Haha.) Oh, and this smells good, too! It's got a sweet scent that I really like. Not too strong, not too subtle.

Thumbs up:
  • Gentle but a good exfoliant
  • Leaves my skin soft and smooth after every use
  • Doesn't dry my skin out
  • Hasn't irritated my skin so far
  • Smells really nice
  • Affordable - 70 Php for 50  and 120 Php for 100 g of product
  • Widely available - Available at leading drugstores and supermarkets.

There's nothing much that I don't like about this scrub. Honestly, it's not as strong as my other fave (but a little bit harsher) scrubs, but it can still exfoliate well enough to leave me with soft and smooth skin. It's not hard on the pocket either. It won't be hard to repurchase.

Over-all, I like this facial scrub. It does the job without drying my skin, so it's good enough for me. I use this 2-3 times a week. I still use a stronger scrub once a week, though, (usually on Sunday nights) for really smooth skin that's ready for another work week.  :)

  1. I like that it's a dry scrub. You don't have to be bent over the sink while doing this :) But once I used too much on my bf and he says it stings daw, hehehe oops :P

I've started using this recently and I really like it too! There are still some days that I need a more "vigorous" scrub but I find myself reaching for this more and more. :D

  3. I've tried the green one. I didn't notice its whitening effect but it definitely made my skin smoother and softer after each use. Good product!

  4. This is more gentle, imo. But I haven't used St. Ives in a while. I loved the apricot scrub :)
