...turn this stupid fat rat yellow!
Haha. Yeah, the second half of Ron Weasley's "spell" doesn't really have anything to do with this post but it's too funny not to share.
Anyway, this yellow and gold-themed gradient is what I'll be sporting the whole week for the holidays. And yes, I realize that it's only two days before Christmas so this post might be a little too late for those looking for holiday nails ideas for their Christmas parties and stuff, but whoever said that you can sport yellow and gold nails only during the holidays? You can wear gold and yellow any time of the year! Or green or red, for that matter :)
So here are my yellow and gold gradient nails.
Kept things simple and went with a monochromatic theme and just topped it off with glitters for the extra holiday sparkle.
Nails of the day with Bobbie Glaze polish in Chestnut, Caronia Frosted polish in Golden Sun, Elianto nail color in Bronzy and Sassy Colors Gold Glitter.
To create the gradient, I used one of the sponges I recently got from Tony Moly (*haul post here*).
This design looks like my *2012 New Year nail design,* doesn't it? If you look more closely, though, you'll see how they differ.
I used a different base color for this, Bobbie's Chestnut glaze, which also happens to be one of my fave shades from Bobbie. It's a sheer, sparkly and frosty gold color, perfect for the holidays even just by itself. I used Caronia's Golden sun, also one of my faves from Caronia, as transition color. For the tips, I used Elianto's Bronzy for a deeper gradient. I just patted lightly, though, because I wanted the tips to be more yellow and less orange. Topped everything off with a coat of Sassy's Gold Glitter.
One thing I wish I'd done, though, was put chunky colored glitters on the tips. I didn't have any so I settled for this.
Try it! It's so easy to recreate, and it'll only take you a few minutes to do all of your nails. You can also use it as a base for your holiday nail art.
Hope you like it! :)
What's on your nails right now? :)
