Review: San San Gel Eyeliner
Remember this eyeliner? I got it two months ago (haul post *here*), and I've been using it since then.
It's the San San Gel Eyeliner (with Vitamin E).

The packaging is simple. The cap is long because it actually holds a brush. Here's what the built-in brush looks like.
It's actually pretty useful. I don't use it, though, because I like using my Marionnaud N'9 brush for my eyeliner.
Honestly, I'm in a love-and-hate relationship with this gel eyeliner. First of all, I like that it's really affordable. I also like how smoothly it glides on my eyelid. It's really easy to apply. It also doesn't irritate my eyes and it's very easy to remove. Now for the things I don't quite like about it... On my oily monolids, this doesn't stay on too long without smudging. It usually smudges on me after 3 hours so I make sure I don't use it by itself. I always apply primer and eyeshadow before applying this liner. I think this product will work better for those with dry skin and whose lids don't get oily throughout the day and for those whose don't have hooded lids.

Here's how the liner looks on me. Note that I have monolids. So that means that when I apply liner and then close my eyes or blink, some of the eyeshadow gets transferred to my upper lash line. This is why the liner appears a bit shimmery on my lid.
Anyway, I think it looks pretty decent. On days when my face doesn't oil up very much, this liner lasts longer on my lids.
Like:
- Glides smoothly on the lids
- Easy to apply
- Doesn't irritate my eyes
- Has Vitamin E
- Easy to remove
- Product still hasn't dried up inside the jar - I've had this for two months already
- Comes with a decent brush
- Affordable - priced at P115 for 2g of product
- Widely available (brown shade only) - available in HBC outlets
Don't like:
- Not smudge-proof/rub-proof
- Doesn't stay long on my oily monolids
So all in all, I'm on the fence with this product. It will probably work better for those with lids that don't oil up much throughout the day and for those who don't have hooded lids. If you have relatively dry skin, you might want to try this out. I think it's a good "practice" gel liner. Maybe it'll work well as an eyeshadow base :)
One of the things that I hate about having monolids is that it makes finding a REALLY good eyeliner more difficult. Any suggestions? Do you prefer the Maybelline gel liner over the Fanny Serrano one? Let me know! Thanks :D

nice review! I had this but I gave it away after I swatched this... I could already tell it wasn't going to last very long!
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing buy! I have this for long enough now and until now di pa sya ubos. Ang bad side lng for me is ung brush kapag tumtgas eh msakit sa mata, parang nanunusok. But overall this is a long lasting (as in) gel liner. Hirap nga dn tanggalin to eh! :D
ReplyDeletei havent tried this yet kasi i have my FS gel liner pa it was way way way cheaper a! pero i have oily lids din d xa magwowork saken ahehe ung FS ko mula 8am-8pm okay parin mukhang bagong lagay parin :) hihih share lang :)
ReplyDeleteYup, on me it doesn't last long too. Too bad :/
ReplyDeleteGood for you Nadj! It's nice that this is working well on your lids. Sa akin mabilis magsmudge eh. I don't use the brush often but when I do (pag nagmamadali), I always spot clean after using para hindi tumigas :)
ReplyDeleteYeah! It's only about 1/4 of the price of other gel liners. Wow, mukhang ok yung FS ah. Hindi ba siya mabilis magdry sa loob ng jar? :)
ReplyDeletei nominated you for an award!!! check this out!!!

Why don't you try putting a bit of baby powder on you lids before applying the liner? That's what I do and mine lasts the whole day, swear. Even after taking a bath, the liner was still on my lids.
ReplyDeletesis anong marerecommend mo iba liner :) Yung affordable din.. pareho tayo mahilig sa affordable. :) Thanks!
