Tutorial: How to Curl Hair Using Bendy Rollers

So for my second tutorial post, I'm gonna show you how to curl your hair using bendy rollers.

What are bendy rollers?

Well, a bendy roller is basically a foam cylinder wrapped around a bendable wire.

There are different kinds of bendy rollers and they come in different colors and sizes. Bear in mind that the size of the roller matters. The larger the roller, the looser your curl will be.

In this tutorial, I'm using Hair Essentials Bendy Rollers. I bought these bendy rollers at Watsons for 219.75 PhP per box. Each box contains 12 rollers.

Steps:

1. I curl my hair while it is still a little damp but you can do this even if your hair is dry already. First thing you need to do is to section your hair. It's up to you whether you want to curl your entire hair or only some parts of it. The thicker the section, the looser your curl will be. You can use hair clamps for a more hassle-free curling.

2. Apply some styling gel (or whatever product you have that will help keep your curls intact) to the section of hair you are about to curl.

3. Place the roller about 3 to 4 inches from the end part of the hair section. Take the hair by the ends and wrap it around the middle part of the bendy roller. When you get to the end of the section, roll the bendy roller toward your scalp, then carefully bend the ends  inward to secure the roller in place.

Tip: If you're using bendy rollers like mine, don't hold the roller by the ends while bending to prevent the foam from tearing. Happened to me loads of times already (T_T). But that doesn't happen with all rollers. It all depends on the type of foam your rollers are made of.

4. After you've curled your entire hair, wait for it hair to dry completely (if you styled it while damp). You can choose to blow-dry for a few minutes. Some people sleep with their rollers on but what I do is I wait for about 3 to 4 hours before removing the curlers. Some even wait longer. The longer you keep the rollers on, the longer the curls will last.

5. Unbend the ends and unwind the hair from the roller.

See how loose the curls are? That's because I curled quite thick sections of hair.

7. Apply hair spray to keep the curls intact. Scrunch the curls, don't comb or brush.

I think it sort of has a vintage look to it.
That's it, you're done! To keep the curls out of my face, I just pinned the bangs part back using bobby pins. Just spice it up the way you want by using clips, headbands, etc.

That's it for now! I hope you found this post helpful ^^,
